Luxury Demand Keeps SF Moving
San Francisco remains the center of the Bay Area’s housing story this summer, with AI-driven wealth continuing to offset elevated mortgage rates and push demand to extraordinary levels in select neighborhoods. Competition is especially intense at the higher end of the city’s market, in June alone, 44 San Francisco homes sold for at least $1 million over asking. Although job cuts, inflation, and rates near 6.5% are weighing more heavily on other parts of the region, limited inventory and concentrated wealth are keeping San Francisco’s most desirable markets exceptionally competitive.
